The Element of Fire

Excerpts from artist's notes

Fire in the human psyche is expressed as Willpower. The will of the ego and the Will of the soul. In the journey of inner transformation there is an opposition between the two. This duality is overcomed through unifying what was separated. The unifying force is Eros, it is the deep Love for Life as a whole, an unquestioned force that transforms sacrifice and death into completeness and forgiveness. Each time this event occurs in ourselves, a revelation takes place, the old cloth of the past is shed and the inner light is expressed though a more transparent personality.

      The process of unveiling the personal truth, which stays hidden under layers of acquired perception, is at the same time the journey to find wholeness, freedom, home. The archetypical quest for Home, the Odyssey, is a universal symbol. It teaches us that in the face of adversity, being humbled, is the only way to remember the miracle of life. Like Odysseus each one of us has a Inner plan to fullfil. Our drive guides us in this quest until we reach a completion, manifestation or closure as we grasp the true meaning of willpower.

Free will grants us choice, and these choices bring us either closer to or further from our divine origin. Our divinity is what allows us to act upon our true potential.

Where is our will guiding us, individually and collectively? Are we looking exactly where we want to go?

    The will of humans is the force that creates history. It has shaped our environment, our lives, our bodies, our thoughts, and our perception. Countless times, people have gathered under a “banner” and marched forward to bring about various outcomes. This collective “fire” — the convergence of individual willpower into a single movement — affects the entire planet and is mirrored by nature itself.

In my view, the deepest value in all human endeavors, the one thing that truly endures, is the expansion of consciousness that each individual experiences. After everything conquered and everything possessed has faded, what remains is the bare truth of who we are and what we genuinely desire.

Freedom is the willingness to uncover and clarify the purpose of the soul — to understand our innate virtue and offer ourselves to the world.
